Job description
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist or Virologist to join our team to work on viral vaccine programs. This job provides a great opportunity for the candidate to learn and contribute to various aspects of vaccine development. Education
Ph.D. in virology, viral immunology, or molecular biology with 0-5 years of experience in an academic or industrial setting
Main responsibilities
Perform virology studies: cDNA cloning of virus genome, recovery of recombinant viruses, and characterization of virus phenotype
Conduct preclinical research including in vitro and in vivo studies for vaccine candidate evaluation
Develop processes and protocols for virus production for pipeline advancement in the R&D laboratory
Develop and qualify or validate virology and immunology assays to support IND filings
Must be a team player with strong communication skills, well-organized, detail oriented, good record keeping, and ability to multitask
Preferred skills
Strong molecular biology techniques such as cDNA cloning, RT-PCR, and qPCR
Mammalian cell culture including cell propagation and plasmid transfection
Virological techniques including virus propagation, plaque assay, focus assay, and microneutralization assay
Immune assays: ELISA, microneutralization, Western blotting, immunofluorescence
Ability to influence, negotiate and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders; capable of embracing the ideas of others and nurturing innovation
Experience with negative sense RNA viruses is highly desired
