Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist or Virologist to join our team to work on viral vaccine programs. This job provides a great opportunity for the candidate to learn and contribute to various aspects of vaccine development. Education

  • Ph.D. in virology, viral immunology, or molecular biology with 0-5 years of experience in an academic or industrial setting

Main responsibilities

  • Perform virology studies: cDNA cloning of virus genome, recovery of recombinant viruses, and characterization of virus phenotype

  • Conduct preclinical research including in vitro and in vivo studies for vaccine candidate evaluation

  • Develop processes and protocols for virus production for pipeline advancement in the R&D laboratory

  • Develop and qualify or validate virology and immunology assays to support IND filings

  • Must be a team player with strong communication skills, well-organized, detail oriented, good record keeping, and ability to multitask

Preferred skills

  • Strong molecular biology techniques such as cDNA cloning, RT-PCR, and qPCR

  • Mammalian cell culture including cell propagation and plasmid transfection

  • Virological techniques including virus propagation, plaque assay, focus assay, and microneutralization assay

  • Immune assays: ELISA, microneutralization, Western blotting, immunofluorescence

  • Ability to influence, negotiate and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders; capable of embracing the ideas of others and nurturing innovation

  • Experience with negative sense RNA viruses is highly desired
